The Arab NGO Network for Development (ANND) in coordination with SOLIDAR and The Associative Space of Morocco , organized a regional seminar on “Trade and Investment and their Impact on Economic and Social Rights in the Southern Mediterranean”, on November 23 th and 24th 2017 in Rabat.
The seminar, inscribed within the second phase of SOLiD, brought together delegates and representatives of International Organisations (Third World Network, UNCTAD), Civil Society Organisations (Olof Palme International Center – Sweden , Phenix Center – Jordan, National Centre for Development Cooperation (CNCD) – Belgium, Lebanese Observatory for Workers and Employees Rights – Lebanon) and Trade Unions (Italian General Confederation of Labour (CGIL) –Italy)
The event was initiated by a general overview of the global trade scene, followed by a discussion on regional trade and investment policies in the Middle East and North Africa and comparative approach of negotiations’ process in Jordan, Tunisia, and Morocco. This afforded an opportunity to provide recommendations on the role of social and societal dialogue processes in trade policies.
